I was a committed MAG user for 18 months before switching to an Android TV box. This is my honest comparison based on real daily use — not specs on paper.
The switch was driven by VOD access. My provider added a full VOD library that was only accessible through their Android app, not the MAG portal. I was paying for content I could not reach.
Android TV box experience: more complex initially but much more capable once configured. TiviMate gave me features the MAG portal never had — catch-up, multi-screen EPG browsing, VOD integration.
App flexibility. I can run multiple provider apps, switch between them instantly, and compare quality. That was not possible with the portal-locked MAG experience.
The Netflix and YouTube integration on the Android box was also a genuine improvement. Having all content on one device without input switching is convenient.
