Complete MAG device first-time setup guide — 2022 edition

Just got my first MAG box. Where do I start?

Step 1: Connect it to your TV with HDMI and to your router with Ethernet cable. Wi-Fi comes later.

Ethernet first is important for initial setup. More stable for downloading firmware updates.

Step 2: Power on and wait for the initial boot sequence. First boot takes 2-3 minutes.

The first boot can look like it's stuck. Be patient — it's configuring internally.

Step 3: Once at the main screen, go to Settings > System Settings > Servers > Portals.

You'll see Portal 1 and Portal 2 slots. Enter your portal URL in Portal 1.

Where do I get the portal URL?

From your service provider. It's a specific URL that ends in /c/ or similar.

After entering the URL, save and reboot the device completely.

Full reboot is important — soft restart doesn't always apply portal changes.

After reboot, the portal should load your service automatically.

If it doesn't load, double-check the URL character by character.

One wrong character in the URL completely breaks the connection.
