IPTV Smarters Pro login not saving credentials after app update — fix

After updating IPTV Smarters Pro on my Firestick, my login credentials are gone and when I re-enter them they do not save after closing the app. Every time I open IPTV Smarters I have to enter everything again. Very annoying — how do I fix this permanently?
 
This is a known issue with specific versions of IPTV Smarters Pro on Fire TV. The app stores credentials differently across versions and some updates break the credential persistence. There are two reliable fixes depending on your version.
 
Fix 1: Clear app data completely. Firestick Settings → Applications → Manage Installed Applications → IPTV Smarters → Clear Data. Relaunch the app, enter credentials, and they should save correctly. The clear data step wipes the broken credential storage and allows the app to create a fresh, working storage file.
 
Fix 2: If clearing data does not work, uninstall the current version and sideload a specific stable APK version. The most recent Amazon store version sometimes has the credential saving bug. The stable APK version available from the Smarters website does not have this issue. Install via Downloader app.
 
UK user — had this after an automatic update pushed by Amazon. The Fix 1 (clear data) worked for me. Re-entered credentials, ticked the "remember" checkbox, closed and reopened the app. Credentials persisted. Has not happened again since.
 
Ireland — tried Fix 1, did not work for me. Used Fix 2 instead. Downloaded the stable APK version from the Smarters official site using Downloader, sideloaded it over the existing installation. Credential saving now works correctly.
 
One thing to note: "Manage Installed Applications" on newer Fire TV interfaces can be buried. Go to Settings → My Fire TV → Developer Options if you cannot find Manage Applications in the standard settings location.
 
Also check that your Firestick has sufficient storage. Very low storage (under 500 MB free) can prevent apps from writing credential files. Check available storage in Settings → My Fire TV → About → Storage. If it is very low, uninstall unused apps.
 
Canada user — this happened on my third-generation Firestick. Clearing data fixed it. Also noticed that the Amazon store auto-update was the culprit. Disabled auto-updates for Smarters specifically: hold down on the app icon → More Info → disable automatic updates.
 
Disabling auto-updates for the specific app is a good preventive measure. You then control when to update rather than having Amazon push potentially buggy versions automatically.
