MAG showing wrong EPG time — how to sync correctly

Starting this thread to share my experience and hear from others in the community. Happy to discuss in detail.
 
Time offset is a common MAG issue. It's usually a timezone setting problem.
 
Then it might be the portal's EPG data providing times in a different timezone.
 
Some providers provide EPG in UTC and expect the client (MAG) to convert.
 
My provider said their EPG is in UTC. I set MAG to UTC+0 and all times are wrong by definition.
 
Found it — portal had a separate timezone setting that was overriding MAG's system setting.
 
Resolved! Portal timezone was set to Eastern US time. Changed to my local timezone and it's perfect.
